This is an Oil Painting by Leonid Afremov. I’m just going to say this straight up, this painting is absolutely gorgeous. I’m not really a painter myself but I still find this piece highly inspiring because of the way it makes me feel. I always feel so much better after a quick look at this. The texture made by the brush make the colors more complex but the composition simpler. I’d say the only rule this piece doesn’t follow is the rule of thirds because the figure is in the dead center of the painting. This is made up for however because the colors are so appealing and well balanced that your eye roams around the whole painting and the figure is just there to give the piece a setting rather than the painting just being a color study. Its just so interesting to see something as mundane as a woman walking through the rain so beautiful and surreal even though its real.
